Well I suppose it's about that time where I update this thing again. I've really been quite the procrastinator when it comes to this blog! Oh well, I guess that's what I get for being crazy busy these days!
I'll start of with the exciting news! We can now listen to Radio Humber on resnet! After spending two hours on the phone with IT the other day it finally paid off! I was so excited once they emailed me back and told me they had it fixed. And then of course I told everyone on my floor that they can tune in online now, and also messaged Diana as soon as I found out because I know she would be enthralled. So that was the extent of my excitement for the past few weeks.
Aside from that my seminar was on Friday, and OH BOY! Quite the technical difficulties I had! I was all ready to go and super pumped. I even went over early to print off the essay (which took me hours to write by the way!) , printed up all the slides to give out to classmates and then ran back to residence with about 20 minutes to spare to get all dressed up in my suit and ran back over ready to go!
That's the good news, bad news is that it didn't go over so well. I had some technical difficulties! I brought my laptop over because I did my powerpoint in OpenOffice. And I knew for a fact that it wasn't going to save my audio correctly because it's a piece of junk program when it comes to importing audio. So I figured I'd plug the speakers into my laptop and the projector into it as well. WRONG! The speakers wouldn't fit at first, and so I was like: "Oh! Okay I'll just use my key and hopefully redirect the sound to the correct path once it's open in powerpoint..."... WRONG AGAIN! I forgot my key in my room! So I borrowed a key from a classmate and transfered the files over to the desktop PC on the media cart... It didn't work! Wouldn't let me redirect the audio. So I was freaking out, and Paul ran out to his car to grab me speakers, which I was so thankful for. Here's where it gets a little bit sticky, while he was out I managed to get the speakers hooked up to my laptop! I felt so bad when he got back.
MOVING ON! The presentation kicked off and I thought it was going well, but I really didn't get that much of a reaction from Paul, which is the exact opposite of what I wanted. He just kind of sat there. All I'm hoping for is that I get above an 80% because I put a LOT of work into this seminar, and if it's lower than an 80 I'm going to be terribly upset! But a few classmates seemed to really like the presentation, as it really showcased where we are headed with automation systems and voice tracking, as well as the affects MP3 players are making on our future careers.
I'm glad it's over and done with though, because I've been working crazy hard on it for the past few weeks to make it look awesome and sound great. It ran around 30-40 minutes too which is great! That's exactly what I was hoping for!
In other news we've got a final project coming up for On-air Performance, and this is a pitch for a radio station. Now I was originally thinking a HOT AC station but now I'm kind of leaning towards a new rock/classic rock station. I think it might target the audience a bit better and there aren't really to many stations in that area that serve rock (aside from Wingham I believe?). But the problem is my group really isn't showing any initiative towards it! That's why I HATE group work, oh well I hope that it turns out well in the long run. I think I might as well make the pitch to them tomorrow about changing our format a little bit from what we originally planned.
And lastly I leave you with a list of my up and coming band. Starring Diana and myself (and possibly a few special guests!). It's Been Awhile, But No! I Didn't Fall Off The Face Of The Ea...
I suppose it's about that time that I update this crazy little blog. I've got a lot to talk about, since it's been awhile. I like to procrastinate, what can I say!
First off, I'll recap on what has been happening these days. Midterms are over, I've gotten my marks back. And I'm quite pleased to say that I'm sitting on the honors role right now. Which I was very happy with when I got the marks back for my midterms. Sitting at an 82% average which is pretty sweet.
So a few weeks back I went to the movies with Craig, Ashley, Anne and Stacey, to see 30 Days of Night. I have to say, I was a little bit disappointed with this movie. And I think that everyone else was as well. The whole story was pretty cool, but the ending was... well... kind of lame! Since it was a comic book to movie conversion it's understandable that they did the ending the way they did, because it would have been great to read in a comic book. But it just doesn't convert over to movie all that well.
Went to see Saw IV, it was quite the movie. Very gory as most of the Saw franchise is. It was quite a fun time, we went with the radio crew and afterwards headed back to residence and I decided to have a few drinks. It was pretty sweet though. I've never really hung out with the gang before outside of school. So that was really cool to see them outside of the radio environment.
Voicing, Voicing and more Voicing! I've been doing a lot of voice work lately. And I'm not complaining! I enjoy doing voice work, it's been a lot of fun, but it's also kept me extremely busy! And even more busy is putting music into the station. I've been getting music left and right, and the best part is, we finally got accepted to DMDS to have an account for brand new releases! So no worries about buying those new singles now! It's kind of neat because now we can get those brand new singles from those big Canadian bands and sound a bit more like CHUM FM. But I've been trying to add approximate around 20-30 songs each week. Trying to increase the database. We're up to 2013 songs now! YAY TEAM! And I can't help but thank Diana for all her contributions to the music as well. She totally rocks!
I decided to give Nathan and Amanda a call last night. It was good to catch up with both of them. I was kind of on a calling spree I guess you could call it. But I told them both that I'd be home on the 15th of December, so be sure to book it off work, because we would be going out that night for some fun times. I was telling them both about the Cuba trip and told them they better start saving their pennies!
Speaking of Cuba, I got a message back from my aunt. She has two resorts that she found, pretty good prices too, so I'm trying to convince a few others to join us for the trip. Which is going to be a total blast! I can't wait, I'm already extremely excited about it, and it's like four months away! It should be really fun to get away with friends for a week in a nice tropical place like Cuba though. I just want to lounge and have a good time, sip on some cocktails on the beach. The nice warm weather will be perfect for the spring break temperatures we have here in Toronto.
Speaking of temperatures, we are dropping quickly! Last week we were in the double digits. Now we're down to the single digits! It's getting a little bit chilly, but it's still not going to be as cold as it will be for Christmas in the east coast. They don't get the cold we get back home, here in the city. Which is a good thing I guess, but it's a different kind of cold. It's a bitter, dry, cold.. But it doesn't drop down to -20 like we get back home. I think last year alone I only saw a couple centimetres of snow, and never anything below the -10's. Which is great! Because that's nice and warm compared to what I'm used too!! Hopefully it won't get too cold this year, hope I didn't just jinx it by saying that.
So as of right now, I'm sitting here waiting for my next traffic report! I'm really enjoying the radio shifts. They have switched to four hours now, which is making for longer shifts, but also for less air time. I only seem to be getting one hosting shift, and one traffic and entertainment. And I hear Andy seems to be getting the same. So my theory behind it all, not to sound conceited or anything, but I think Jerry may be scheduling the people who need a little bit more experience on the boards more then the others that are sounding fine on air. Which I guess makes sense, I'd just like a little more air time. But we did bring it forward to Jerry that about a 9-11pm shift, and also a 7-9am shift. Of course it would be all volunteer, it wouldn't be necessary. It would be for the people who want some more airtime on the station because they aren't getting enough airtime. At least that's the way I feel.
And that brings me to tell you about the Broadcast Tour that I ended up doing yesterday for grade nine high school students. I was pretty pumped to be doing this. But apparently they weren't interested in Radio, TV or Journalism at all. It was kind of bombshell! No one enjoyed it, at least they didn't seem to enjoy it! I tried my best, was asking as many questions to them as possible, and there was absolutely no response. It was like the sound of crickets when I asked a question. Oh well, I tried my best, at least it was a fun experience for me, I got to give a tour of an awesome broadcast centre and there was no response! I guess these kids don't like the media! I've never given a tour before so I was a bit nervous myself, so it was definitely a great experience for me either way.
We now have Radio Humber tshirts! I'm very excited, bought it yesterday, and am sporting it right now while I'm on the air. It's great, the only complaint I have, is the fact that there is a HUGE logo on the back, but no logo on the front what so ever! I'm thinking what I might do is go and get the front embroidered with my name, my position, and the station below that, so at least there will be something to read on the front and it won't seem so blank! It's still cool though, now all the radio students can sport the radio humber tshirts around campus, and we won't just see those annoying Humber Fire tshirts everywhere... hahahah...
Anyway, I guess that's really all to update on, I'm sure theres a few other things I may think of as time goes on, perhaps I'll do another post if I do. Have a good one!

The Red Roses are Black
Have you ever heard of a band called ICON & The Black Roses? Well they're broken up, but I found myself listening to them most of today. I LOVE the sound of gothic rock/metal/love metal if you must. It's such a satisfying sound, and it's VERY emotional music. You can feel the music so much when you listen. It's very much atmospheric.
I almost wish they were Canadian so I could play them on Radio Humber. Actually, I DO wish they were Canadian, because I would love to play them on Radio Humber. Speaking of that actually, I added a few brand new hits. I've got Finger Eleven's new single on the station in rotation now (hey look that rhymed! lol) and also the new single from Major Maker. Most of you probably don't know the band, well if you remember the swedish berry commercial made by Maynards the candy company, you will know the song Rollercoaster. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJ7pGMfVNVg)
I like added new hits, because we aren't getting to many of them lately, and people haven't really been sending me music like they are suppose too. I guess it's because we've been having trouble downloading the music. It won't import into the software for some reason, so it doesn't really matter all that much. I've just been adding music from my own collection, and from CDs that have gotten mailed to the station. I think we need more new music then classic hits. Because seriously, who knows of the band Kayle anyway? I've never heard of them before, not bad music, but no one knows of these bands. We need more popular hits, at least that's my take on it. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I've added a few smaller bands that are doing extremely well for themselves so far. Joel Plaskett, Matt Mays, Pride Tiger, Billy Klippert, Tomi Swick to name a few. They're great artists that are climbing slowly into fame.
Back to ICON & The Black Roses... I love the sound, and I wish I could have a sound a lot more unique like theirs when I'm recording. My next album I want to be a lot more darker then my current, and I'm thinking about taking the approach of Gothic rock. Because I love the sound, I just need to get a really nice distortion pedal to give it that dark, deep, and overpowering grunge to it. I think I could really write some superb music to the sound. And since I have my electric here, I could make some crazy sounds. Not that I want to stray away from the acoustic sound of things, because the major aspect of Gothic music is the acoustic sound, combine with the electrical grunge distortion. It's just very emotional music, and my music is driven by emotions and every day happenings.
Worst thing is the band is no longer together. They could have been very successful in my opinion. Jonny Icon could have had something really going for him, but they broke up shortly after recording their first album and no one really heard anything afterwards. I LOVED the fact that they had both male and female vocals. And if I can find someone to sing with me on my next record it would absolutely thrill me to do so. But a lot of people don't like singing, even if they know they have talent, they don't want to help out. Oh well, I might just have to go with my lone male vocals again on this album.
Either way, it's just a thought, and I think I might go through with it if I can get myself a nice distortion sound to give it that gothic/love/metal/rock sound. Because I love the sound and it will fit my lyrical writing style perfectly. It's so dark, but enlightening at the same time, it's because the lyrics are based on love and emotion, which is what my lyrics are based on. Maybe I've found a perfect genre for my lyrical content? We'll just have to wait and see.

Yeah... Unfortunately, I Live On R3...
When someone asks what floor I live on, I almost hate to respond... "Yeah... Unfortunately, I live on R3". And everyone knows the floor, and how immature people can be on it..
Why do people have to be some immature?! And not just sometimes, but ALL THE TIME! I can't believe this floor sometimes, last night there was a guy that kept coming into my room and turning off my lights. He kept doing it every five minutes too. The worst part of it all was he was drunk and he probably doesn't remember doing it. Oh it's great being on a floor where the majority of them act like 15 year old high school students. I'm sorry I just had to rant about that, it's bothering me that I have to put up with this. I thought it would last a few weeks at the most but it's been a month now, almost a month and a half! Grow up!
On a side note, we had an R6 reunion last night, a bunch of people showed up last night and we got together to have a meal and a few drinks. It was quite a fun night, and it was great to see everyone again (well not everyone). Dylan came in from New Jersey, Shawn and Yuuki drove from various locations here in Ontario. And of course all the rest of us still live on residence. There was even an appearance from Phil, which we weren't expecting, but that was cool.
It's going to be a busy week, I have quite a bit to do, I have a radio lab assignment that's due on Monday which I still have NO ideas on what I'm doing for the assignment. We'll just have to wait and see, try and figure out what I'm doing tonight I guess. I'm not a fan of some of these assignments Cross is giving us, but then again it's something that might happen in the real world. I mean, I'm sure we'll be getting assignments or things to do in a real station that we aren't necessarily think are "fun times". I guess it's just because I'm a LOT busier this year then I was last.
Not sure what the plans are for tonight, we'll just wait it out and see I guess. Taker easy!

You're So Beautiful, Invisible
What an adventurous weekend this was, so to speak. I need to fill you in I suppose. This weekend was the long Thanksgiving weekend. And I decided to take a trip to Hamilton to see Justin. Friday was a fun night too, was hanging out with Stacey and her friend Evan, he seems like a cool guy, and we hung out last night when I returned as well.
I guess I better start off in the right order. So, first off, Friday. I had an on air shift from 6-9pm which was kind of a fun set, not one of my best but we all have those days. And I decided after that I would chill with Stacey for a few drinks. Not long after I got back from my set her friend showed up and we had drinks together. He's a really good guy, and a pretty funny character. But that's pretty much all that happened on Friday. Just chatted and had a few drinks, but nonetheless that's not a bad thing.
Saturday I ended up waking up at 10am to try and catch the bus to be in Hamilton by noon. Well regardless to say, that sure didn't happen. I didn't end up getting into Hamilton until 2ish. But it was great to hang out with Justin and Theresa again. We headed to a party that night in Niagara, which I've never been. We talked about going to the falls afterwards but that plan sadly fell apart so I still have yet to see them, perhaps in the near future I can take a trip down. Oh well, the party was fun, I had no idea who anyone was, but I met some cool folks there.
Sunday was fun, woke up and went to church with Justin and Theresa. Then we headed back to his place and watched episodes of Sienfeld for awhile. Then I was back off to Toronto. It was good to see them again though, I didn't get back to Toronto until 5pm, and once I got back I went and took a nap. Then 7 hit and the phone rings, talked to my parents while still half a sleep and then called up Stacey to see what she was up too. We went down for food and then yes started drinking again.
The night was very fun, we ended up calling up for pizza from Pizza Pizza and sure enough they were late. So I run downstairs with Suni when we saw the pizza guy and start hounding on him, because after 50 minutes it's free. So he was getting ready to leave with our pizza. This is when I told him to call up his boss and let me talk to him. Sure enough he did, I talked to him and they told him to give us the pizza because he was, in fact, late! So free pizza for us! And the best part was we ordered two, so two free pizzas. The delivery guy was pretty upset, and as he handed over the pizza all he said was "I will never be late again". It was too funny, and when I walked away with a big grin on my face for getting free food I told him to have a "great night". It was hilarious!
Later that night we got listening to some LIVE, and decided to purchase their new album online, all I have to say is WOW! I am absolutely LOVING the sound of LIVE live. Yeah, if that doesn't confuse you, I don't know what will! I'm actually listening to it right now, they sound fantastic. I would love to see them live, and if they ever come to Toronto I am going at the drop of a hat. They also released two unheard tracks on this album, so not only do I get an AWESOME live performance album, but I get to hear two brand new tracks from LIVE. How awesome is that?? To tracks, Beautiful Invisible, and Radiant Sea, the title track. Of course the title track is always usually the best, sure enough it is a great tune. But most importantly, their live performance sound blew me away. I mean there's bands out there that can write music and record it, but then there's bands out there that can make it sound good live. And these guys CAN make it sound good live. All I have to say is, if you love LIVE, then pick up this live album from them, it will definitely not disappoint..

I guess I better start off in the right order. So, first off, Friday. I had an on air shift from 6-9pm which was kind of a fun set, not one of my best but we all have those days. And I decided after that I would chill with Stacey for a few drinks. Not long after I got back from my set her friend showed up and we had drinks together. He's a really good guy, and a pretty funny character. But that's pretty much all that happened on Friday. Just chatted and had a few drinks, but nonetheless that's not a bad thing.
Saturday I ended up waking up at 10am to try and catch the bus to be in Hamilton by noon. Well regardless to say, that sure didn't happen. I didn't end up getting into Hamilton until 2ish. But it was great to hang out with Justin and Theresa again. We headed to a party that night in Niagara, which I've never been. We talked about going to the falls afterwards but that plan sadly fell apart so I still have yet to see them, perhaps in the near future I can take a trip down. Oh well, the party was fun, I had no idea who anyone was, but I met some cool folks there.
Sunday was fun, woke up and went to church with Justin and Theresa. Then we headed back to his place and watched episodes of Sienfeld for awhile. Then I was back off to Toronto. It was good to see them again though, I didn't get back to Toronto until 5pm, and once I got back I went and took a nap. Then 7 hit and the phone rings, talked to my parents while still half a sleep and then called up Stacey to see what she was up too. We went down for food and then yes started drinking again.
The night was very fun, we ended up calling up for pizza from Pizza Pizza and sure enough they were late. So I run downstairs with Suni when we saw the pizza guy and start hounding on him, because after 50 minutes it's free. So he was getting ready to leave with our pizza. This is when I told him to call up his boss and let me talk to him. Sure enough he did, I talked to him and they told him to give us the pizza because he was, in fact, late! So free pizza for us! And the best part was we ordered two, so two free pizzas. The delivery guy was pretty upset, and as he handed over the pizza all he said was "I will never be late again". It was too funny, and when I walked away with a big grin on my face for getting free food I told him to have a "great night". It was hilarious!

Where Has Time Gone?
I don't seem to have enough of it lately. Time keeps flying by, and I can't believe it's October already!
I got my interview with Chris. It was good to chat with him again. It's been kind of a hectik week, and this isn't going to be that much of a post because I have to get going. I have a lot of work to do.
But I started getting some content for my Radio Seminar project, and I interviewed Chris on his thoughts of radio and if digital media is taking over. He had some very insightful things to say about it. He also told me to keep sending him some air checks. He wants to compare from the first few that I've sent him. So that was cool too.
But, that's really all I have to say for right now, yeah it's a short post, just wanted to give an update on what has been going on. It's been busy, trying to get assignments done and on air shifts left and right, but speaking of that, I have to jet, I have one in about an hour!

Album Art, Windows Vista, and more! OH BOY!
I've been troubled the past few days with something that seems to be bothering me more then usual. It's nothing that should be bothering me, but I seem to be having the problem of thinking that I'm never going to find the right person to be with in my life. Then I begin to think that I'm still to young to even worry about that, I mean I'm only 19, getting close to 20. There's a few people that I'm growing fond of this year, but I know that if anything happens (which I don't think it ever will) that it's just going to have to end by the end of the year. I don't know where I am going to be at the end of the year, and with radio, you could be anywhere.
I got my Windows Vista package in the mail the other day, and have the thing all booted up and installed. I ended up doing a fresh install because I haven't formatted this machine in about a year in a half, it needed a clean install. I have to say, I was first skeptical with the new system, but I am growing to love it. There are a few really cool new features to the operating system. And I've also convinced a few other people that maybe they want to pick it up too!
Another package arrived in the mail on Thursday along with the Vista package. It was a copy of my album. The first actually "good looking" copy of my album. A professionally printed and packaged album arrived at my door (three of them actually) and I must say, they look AWESOME! I'm working on getting something done for my next album, and will definitely be going through CafePress again to get them done. They turned out well and they look like a professionally designed and recorded album now. It's great!
Things have been busy around here, with on air shifts, projects, and the music director position I've been holding. It's a lot of work but this year is already going well, it's fun, although last night I was listening back to some of my on air performances and I realized that I need to work on a few things. Some of my breaks seem to long, I need to shorten them up and tighten up my production. That will come in time, I'm not extremely worried about it right now, but the fact that I'm thinking this already I guess is a good sign. When I can critique my own work and tell whats wrong with it. Maybe I'm just going insane lol.
Not to much has happened this weekend, didn't party on Friday because I was covering a shift on Saturday, which was actually pretty boring. Traffic and Entertainment isn't exactly exciting, but it's radio so you have to do it. Not that I mind doing traffic/entertainment, I just hate that it's so repetitive. At least when you're hosting you get to be creative and talk about everything, other then the limited range of entertainment, which is strictly, as the title suggests, entertainment news.
I don't know why I keep getting scheduled for traffic/entertainment though. I'd love to be getting more hosting times, but it seems as if every week I have two traffic/entertainment, and one hosting. And it's been that way for the past three weeks (I think). I want more hosting time! I guess it'll come, or so I'm hoping. Just have to wait it out and see, and if within another two weeks I'm still having the same issue of not having much hosting time each week, I'll get a hold of Jerry.
Renee didn't show up like she said she would, she apparently got sick or something? I don't know the full story, just going on what Anne had mentioned. Perhaps she'll show up after thanksgiving weekend. But other then that, Saturday was a fun night. We had a few drinks in my room, my RA got a little drunk, and we all had a good time. It was an alright weekend I guess.
Speaking of Thanksgiving, I have no idea what I'm going to be doing on thanksgiving weekend. I guess I might just end up staying here, which will probably be pretty boring, considering there will only be about 10 people living on residence that weekend (just like spring break last year). Oh well, I guess I can catch up on some sleep and work on assignments.

Radio Humber Madness
What a fun night it was last night. The past two nights (Thursday and Friday) I've been doing six hour shifts! Talk about madness, but it sure is helping for my sound already. At least I think so.
I'm loving working on Radio Humber so far, but a little bit frustrated that a few people aren't already showing up for shifts?! Like what the heck, this is our career in stake here. Oh well I guess those are the people that don't seem to have the bug for radio. I'll just keep doing my thing.
So last night I come home from my six hour shift ending at 9pm, and to my surprise Renee showed up for then night. It was great to see her again! I thought she had fallen off the face of the earth! And she also said that she would be back next weekend which is really cool. It will be good to party with her again, perhaps she will have a few drinks next weekend. Then again I have a shift at 10am on Saturday next week when I'm covering. Oh well, no partying on Friday, but Saturday will be full blown partying I guess.
I still have yet to go downtown Toronto this year, I haven't left campus. Then again I've been extremely busy with the station, and also as Music Director. Yeah did I tell you I got the music director position for 96.9? It's pretty cool so far but I haven't done much, we're still getting everything together and running. But it should be fun once things start rolling on.
I think we'll be drinking again tonight, not much else is going on. There were a bunch of people in my room last night, and Tom Mangos came over to chill with us. His a first year radio student, and it's good to get to know a few of them this year. As Cory did with me last year, I want to do the same for many of the first years this year.
Speaking of that bugger, he called me last night.. It was damn good to hear his voice too. I miss him, and wish he were still around, but unfortunately he is rockin' the airwaves in Alberta. Perhaps some day we will meet up, who knows. You never know we may cross paths again some day, but what I do know is we are definitely going to be keeping in touch, and if we don't I am going to have to hunt him down. Either way it was great to chat, we were on the phone for a few hours, and almost everyone in the room spoke with him, it was good times!
I've got a few assignments I have to work on tomorrow, a bunch due for radio and an essay due on Tuesday for my online course. It should be an interesting day to try and get them all done tomorrow. I started a few today just to get them out of the way so I wouldn't be so jammed on Sunday, which was probably a good idea. Other then that I've been keeping busy with both classes, work, and air shifts. It's a blast, and already starting to fly by! I can't believe it's already been three freaking weeks!
Anywho, I'm off for tonight. Later Days

WOW! What A CRAZY Week
Week one of broadcasting is over! Wow what a week it was too. It was an interesting week just on residence alone. The first shift on Monday was a bit rough around the edges but it was a heck of a lot of fun.
I ended up covering shifts on Monday and Thursday! It was crazy! I had five shifts this week, and next week I'm scheduled for four. I'm not too worried about taking extra shifts though because it's all great experience. I still need as much practice I can get!
There were a few mistakes on air, but I feel the first week went by a lot better then I expected. They basically threw us in the broadcasting room and said have fun. I was still a little bit sketchy on the operating board, it was a bit confusing to use but I have the hang of it now.
My floor was extremely frustrating this week, like I said it's very immature.. But there has been talks that its going to be converted into a quiet floor if they don't settle down.. Which I really wouldn't mind too much, but what would suck is on the weekends we would have to be quiet at 11! There's no one ever here on the weekends so I don't really want that to happen, we can't have parties then!
Another interesting event happened on Thursday. It was actually VERY loud, and I was getting frustrated as I normally do when these guys get too drunk. See the problem is it's alright during the day because no one is drinking, but everyone wants to get hammered for some reason and then scream for hours in the hallways or in the lounge. It's not exactly my type of "fun".
Anyway, one of the screaming matches turned into a fight. Three guys got in a fight on the floor. It was kind of amusing, and then security arrived on the floor and were very strict about people talking. I mean I don't mind when people are in the halls talking quietly, but they were yelling at me for typing on my computer with my door open! Talk about lame! I'm not a big fan of the high school drama though, and that's what it's been the past few weeks. Hopefully it will get better within the next few, but I am highly doubting it right now. We'll have to wait and see.
A few days before that, a guy that use to live on our floor (switched rooms with Craig, that's how he moved in on my floor), decided he was okay to drive when he was hammered. He ended up driving into a light poll in the parking lot. Regardless of that, the cops got called and rumors have it he has a 7000 dollar fine. There goes your education money you saved, huh??... Some people aren't too bright these days, but then again all of the people on this floor are very young and it's the first time they've been out on their own.
Good thing was he wasn't hurt, but that still wasn't the smartest thing to do. And then the other thing was Tom was in my room that night, and he was very disrespectful of the fact. I had a few people from the floor in my room at the time, one very upset, and he made a comment on how he was happy he crashed. This just upset the girl even more and I got mad at him. He couldn't understand why, but you just don't say those things in front of people who are upset because their friend just got in a car crash!.. While I understand his point, he said he had a friend who was killed from a drunk driver, you still don't voice that when it just happened.
It's been a crazy week, hopefully nothing like that happens again. I also got some good news, aside from all the weird and bad things that have been happening. I got the music director position I applied for. So now I'll be getting a few bucks in my pocket while I'm here at Humber. I find out all the details on Monday. Should be fun though, I get to be involved with the station even more then I was expecting, and get paid for it!

Back In The Wonderful World Of Toronto!
Well I'm back again, and I suppose I should give you a bit of an update of what has been going on all summer. It's been awhile since my last post, in fact my last post was the night before I left for Truro again. Nevertheless I figured it was that time again. I moved into my new room on R320, and am still in reservation for a T Building with Craig. We actually have a pretty decent floor, best part is Craig is on the same floor as me! Pretty sweet deal if you ask me, but they are a little bit immature for my liking. Oh well, you can't win every time I guess. I just have to stop comparing it to last year, we had such a tight floor last year.
I've been working like a mad man all summer. No time for fun, although I did take a few trips over the course of the four months I was back. Few to Halifax, and over to PEI when Craig and Renee came down to visit. Which was an absolute blast. I hope they had fun, because I enjoyed seeing them. Speaking of Renee however, she didn't make it up this weekend. Not sure why, but she said she would be up and then never showed up. How weird...
I was working at Convergys and taking calls at the call centre for Sprint. An all American cell phone company and listening to bitching Americans all day.. Well actually not all of them are that bad, I had a few very polite customers, however there were many death threats which was highly amusing. In fact I got a death threat that he was going to come and find me and shoot me with an AK47. How is that for having a fun job? Actually it wasn't all that bad, it's one job that I actually did not dread going to every day, although I would never want to make it a full time career. I started off as an Account Services Retention Agent and then a month before I left got promoted to Supervisor, which I had a blast doing. I met some really cool people this summer because of it though, but I had the worst shift ever and never got to see much of family. It was all good in the end though because I made a heck of a lot of money working there. The bonuses were great!
I've been talking to Nathan and also mentioned it to Craig, but I want to take a trip to somewheres nice and warm this Spring Break. Because I was completely bored out of my mind last year, so I'm taking my bonus money made from work and saving it for a trip. Something cheap and warm would be very convenient. They are both up for it, but I'm not sure if it is going to fall through or not. I hope it does because it would be an absolute blast!
I start on air this year, and my first shift is Monday. I'm REALLY looking forward too it.. I chose the announcing pathway this year, and am really excited to start my career up. I imagine the first show is going to be rough around the edges but there's not really a lot I can do about that, we are all a little nervous the first time we go on air on a radio station. Radio Humber... On Air Next Week!

I thought I would share some exciting news, my first debut and on air performance will be on Radio Humber this up coming week! Hmmmm... Interesting Phone Call
Well I got a weird phone call tonight from a private number, and I can't figure out who it was. They went by the name of "Steve" and I don't really know any Steve's? It was extremely odd. This person called up starting off singing "Breakfast in America" by Supertramp. Then they asked if I was "playing" with myself, and talking about other things along those lines... If you know what I mean...
Then they wanted to know about a bicycle for sale, I told him you must have the wrong number, and he replied "No I don't I'm looking for Mr. Kirk is this Mr. Kirk?". Of course it was me, I don't know too many other Kirk's out there with the same phone number as me. Then he told me I was talking lippy to him, and that's when I said "Yeah okay, whatever, goodbye" and hang up.
They sounded kind of drunk, and the voice sounded familiar, but I can't quite place who it was.
All in all it was a weird experience and I have NO IDEA who this was. Whoever Steve is, you are screwed up dude.

And So The Journey Begins
Actually, it hasn't begun yet. Technically it has, my folks are in Ottawa right now and they will be here around 12pm tomorrow. It's going to be an interesting day, I think I might just break down and cry. Just like I did yesturday, and almost did today.
Tomorrow is my departure from the city of Toronto, and I return to my normal every day life back in the east coast. Yeah... I'm on my way back to Truro. I am kind of looking forward to my return, but I do know that once I'm home for a few hours, I'll want to be back. There's so much more here, and friends are here (well technically not anymore, everyone moved out). I'll just be wishing it were back to classes, and soon enough it will be.
Sarah moved out yesturday, and I feel like CRAP. I didn't get to say goodbye, and what's worse is I walked right by and just gave a quick "See you later!", I guess I kind of froze up, realizing that she would be gone, but not realizing it at the same time. And it then kicked in after the fact that she had already left. We did get to spend some time the night before, but that's besides the point, the point is that it was the day of and I didn't even give her a hug.. Nothing!? I mean what type of guy am I?! Oh well, you can't change the past now, I just really wish I had done it in the first place, but I'm odd like that I guess, I lock up in different situations and regret it later.
Last night I went out with Craig and Jon, we went to a concert, just some local bands, don't really know the names. Nonetheless the first band was really good, the second band not so good, and then everyone started leaving for the main act. Well, reguardless to what was just typed, I think you know how the third band did. It was nice to get out of residence though, and spend some more time with friends on the floor for one last get together. I think we will be going out tonight for awhile, but then it's off to Nova Scotia tomorrow.
I called up Sarah just moments ago and the phone went dead, I'm not sure if it was me or her. My calling card only had 30 minutes left so I'm assuming it ran out, but the worst part is, I didn't get to say goodbye on the phone either! I think everyone hates me and doesn't want me to say goodbye to her, I'm not sure what's going on but it's weird.
Anyways, I'm back to packing. I'll have to try and hold those tears back tomorrow, I know it's going to happen, because Craig and Renee will both be gone. It's depressing!

22 Degrees and Counting
You don't get much nicer than this on a lovely spring day. It's SO nice outside right now. I'm loving the temperature the past few days. Yesturday it was just as nice and it's suppose to follow through all the way to Wednesday! I can't believe it! Another thing I can't believe is the fact that we only have seven more days left of being here. It's going by a LOT faster then I ever expected. But this nice weather sure doesn't help either. I've been outside doing things the past few days having the nice weather. And aside from that, I'm wearing SHORTS! I LOVE wearing shorts, the weather is great for them, it's awesome!
Yesturday I went outside with Cory and we jammed on the guitar for over two hours. Just out in the Arb jamming some tunes. It was a lot of fun, I wish there had have been nicer days where we could have done it more often. I might even go out later this afternoon and do the exact same thing. The weather has been very nice and kept me in a positive attitude the last few days.
I have so much to do this week, monday is the announcing exam, and Humanities test on Wednesday. Aside from that, Renee comes back either Wednesday or Thursday, Sarah leaves Thursday, and I leave Saturday. Friday I am planning on going out with friends from RBD, and Justin wants to meet up Friday night so he can see me one last time. It's going to be one CRAZY week! But it will be fun nonetheless. This is the last time I'm going to see most people. Crazy... Craig, Renee, Cory, Kristen, Brian, and Shaun are all leaving next year. I won't get to see most of them ever again! And I sure hope they keep in touch, because I would be very crushed if they didn't. I've formed a great friendship with them, some more close then the others, but that really doesn't matter.
I'm looking forward to going home to see all my friends again. Hopefully make a few appearances at Victoria Park for the good ol' times. And I had a chat with Nathan on Thursday. It was great to catch up with him and see how things were going. We chatted for a good hour and caught up on a few things, looking forward to get to hang with him again.
In conclusion of it all, I am REALLY going to miss everyone, but one person in particular that I am missing right now as I type this, is Sarah. I really don't want to leave. I'm attached, and it's going to be a hard summer without having her around. I look forward to her presence every single day, and now it's going to be gone! Worst part is, when I come back, it's going to be a little strange for a week or so. But I really hope things don't change, because that would twist me sideways. I don't even know if that makes sense, but that's kind of how I would feel I guess. ANYWHO, enough of my rambling, it's a great day out, and I am going to go out and enjoy it while it lasts!

Last Night Was Pure Pwnage!
I suppose I should give an update on what has been going on lately, well it's been another exciting week, and thats because I've done all kinds of fun stuff this week. I'm trying to get as much friend time in as possible before I depart from here, because most of them, I probably won't see again for a very long time. Maybe I'm being to skeptical, or maybe not, who knows. I just view it that way, and if we meet up next year, the better it will be :) Think postive is what they say, and that's the way I am trying to look at it.
Pure Pwnage season premier last night, and holy crap! It was unbelievable! It was great, got to chat with the cast, and not to ruin it for you if you haven't seen the episode yet, but it is VERY exciting, there is a lot that happened that we had all hoped for. If that isn't too much of a clue, I don't know how else to put it without giving it away. Reguardless, got to chat with the crew again, and Jeremy did remember who I was, as well as Tagi. It was great to see that they hadn't forgotten. I was joined with the regular crew again, Justin, Theresa and friends of theirs, it was a really fun time. Everyone headed over to Poppers afterwords, I was going to join but decided against it because it was getting late and I didn't really want to stay out extremely late that night. So I headed home (keep in mind it was 12:30am when I left, so it was already pretty late). The funny thing was, during the screening there was a bit of technical difficulties and the projector couldn't project in color, so we had to watch episode 13 in black and white, which worked in great to one of the jokes used in the film. And it's funny because now only Toronto fans will understand that one, and it's going to be an inside joke to all of us.
I met a former DJ from MMORadio at the screening?! How cool is that?! The loveable Snowball was present and myself and Justin (Syphro) had an amazing chat with him, and got him all up to date on what has been going on with MMORadio. Oh yeah... did I mention MMORadio shut down?! Yeah who didn't see that coming, they really screwed themselves over when all the DJs quit in the first place, but aside from that, it's also to due with the new regulations trying to get setup for online radio that is completely ridiculous, but I'm in Canada so I really have nothing to worry about. Stupid RIAA, glad they aren't up here, we just have CANCON and SOCAN to worry about :)
Last Wednesday was Cory's birthday! Happy Birthday Cory! Well, I'm a little late on the birthday wishes, but you can bet that we had a fun night. We went to the Jays game, and they took home the win that night. We happened to stop over at Jack Astors before the game, and it was a great meal, I had a really good steak. It was delicious! It was an overall fun night, and I am going to miss him and the gang next year, we were the RBD crew, always enjoyed the long night conversations on radio, and I hope that we are going to keep in touch after the year is over. Which I am going to try to keep my promise of the deal to keep in touch, I just hope they do as well.
Thursday was a bit of an upsetting day, I presented for my sales presentation.. and reguardless, I failed. I couldn't believe it! I thought I had done an amazing job! But apparently Vince didn't think so, I was a little upset, so after the presentation I came back over to residence before Paul's class started and took a few shots, yeah I was drunk for Paul's class! I was upset and needed to take my edge off, and it helped. But I do have the opportunity to make the written part up, which should help my mark out a bit. I do think I am going to lose my Honours though, which is upsetting, because I was looking forward to having Honours this semester. Oh well, I suppose there is always next semester, right?
Sociology exam is tomorrow, and I'm not to sure I'm ready for that one, but I am already passing the course so I'm not too concerned. I just want to get it over and done with, I wasn't a huge fan of the course anyways, but it was alright, and a lot easier then sitting in class trying to do the work. I think Renee feels the same way, but who knows. The exam is tomorrow and I haven't really looked over anything yet, we were suppose to do that tonight but I'm not so sure that's going to happen anymore... The night is still young though, so who knows?
I'm looking forward to the Radio Humber Awards coming up on Tuesday. It sounds like it's going to be a real fun time. Get to meet some huge people in the market, and that will be fun in itself to speak with them. But also, we just get to chill with people from first year and second year, and it will be great to have everyone together and get a few drinks in us for a good time. I'm definitely looking forward to this one, plus it's a formal event, so I get to dress up in my classy suit, and hope that everyone else does as well. If not, well heck, I'll still look top notch. Mwahahaha :)

18 Days and Counting
The time is getting near! And I still am unsure whether I have any work for the summer! It kind of sucks not to know if I'm going to have anything to do when I get home, but I really want radio work for the summer as well. Only 18 days and counting, and it's going by WAY too fast.
I don't really have too much to report in about today, but I am just kind of lazing around right now. Later tonight myself, Craig, Renee and a few others that aren't confirmed yet if they are coming, are planning on going to see Grind House. It should be a good one, Craig and I have been talking about this one for quite some time now, we've been waiting for it to come out for quite awhile and now it's finally here!
The weekend was fun, went over to Sarah's, and it was a lot better then sitting here on residence by myself. We went to see the movie "The Reaping", it had some good spots in it that made me tense up. It was pretty good, and I'd probably watch it again, definitely not worthy of going to see it twice in theatre though, but it was a good film. Other then that, not a heck of a lot went on, met most of her family, ended up going to church, and then visiting her older brother. He's a pretty cool guy, we were chatting about various different things, but I would like to think we got along fine, but I guess I will never know for sure.
Anyways, that's about it, like I said, not really too much to report on, have a bunch of work to do before the end of the year. It's going to be a busy month again, but man do I love it!

APRIL FOOLS! Errr... Nevermind
April Fools isn't so much of a fools day at all, nothing going on today really... It's kind of a crappy day outside, overcast and suppose to rain. I have a few assignments that I should get done but you know me, I like to procrastinate when it comes to stuff like that. Especially since it's just sociology, I mean, I love doing radio work, but a gen ed class just doesn't cut it for me.
So last night we went for our walk because we were bored. We decided, hey why not go to JJMugs. Myself, Craig, Alex, Matt, Bryce and Caitlyn all decided to walk over for a few drinks. We showed up and it was packed, music was thumping and they were going to charge 15 dollars to get in! We thought that it was unbelievably expensive, especially for a place like JJ's. It was ridiculous! One of the guys at the front who was checking for ID wouldn't let me in anyways, he thought I had a fake ID and also thought that I was under age.
"You were born in 88, that's too young!"
"Yeah, 88 of February bud"
"Oh..." he then looks at the other guy "What do you think? We let him in?"
"It's fake"
and then Craig decided to pipe in and say "It's cool guys, we go to school together"
"In Nova Scotia?!"
"No not in Nova Scotia, we go to school here"
At that point, Caitlyn, Alex and Matt walk back out saying there is a 15 dollar cover charge, so we said the heck with that. We started to walk home and it was mentioned we should just go over to the Woodbine racetrack and get some drinks there, it's 24/7 because it's also a Casino. Caitlyn and Bryce headed back to residence and the rest of us decided to go over for some drinks. It's a pretty huge place, and it was cool to just sit down and chat with the guys for something to do. We got back here around two in the morning and then just kind of chilled around for a bit. And that was our night, a lot better then sitting around here doing nothing. And I got to eat a great Clubhouse sandwich while I was at Woodbine, it was delicious!
Not sure what's happening tonight, or today, probably not much. It's just another sunday, I have to start sociology as mentioned, other then that, don't think there is too much planned for the night. Perhaps a movie? Who knows..

Why Is It So Dead This Weekend?
WOW! There's absolutely nothing going on this weekend, last night I was hanging out with Cory and Craig. Just had some regular chat for the night, it wasn't overly exciting. Tonight roles around and there's absolutely NOTHING. No one is here this weekend, and I guess that is understandable, it's getting close to the end of the year and no one really wants to be around, plus the weather has been excellent all week. It's only bound to get better as the days roll by.
So that leaves us down to 27 days, 27 days left until I'm back home. Kind of an interesting concept I guess. Maybe it's not, I think to much, BLARG! I'm excited to go home, and at the same time I'm not. I have more friends here then I do back home, and not that it's bad that I don't have a lot of friends at home, there's a simple reason for that, I had no social life because I worked too much. My friends back home haven't kept in touch with me, and it kind of bothers me. But then again there is also the fact that I haven't tried to get ahold of them either, which is just as bad on my behalf, but I thought that they would stay in touch at least a little bit, that doesn't happen for me. Is the same thing going to happen when I go home for the summer? Will the people here just forget about me like my friends back home did? I sure hope not because I would be awfully crushed.
Like I said, I think way to much, I'm weird like that, but I thought I'd write about it because I'm so bored. There's nothing going on like I mentioned, I'm listening to music on randomize in SAM Broadcaster. I found myself searching up broadcasting softwares tonight, didn't find too many that were extremely interesting, but a few of them were pretty cool. Which brings us to the next point of discussion about Radio Humber next year. I'm looking forward to being on the air, and Jerry applied for a wattage increase so we should hit a broader audience next year. Which I guess is pretty cool for us, I did happen to come in at a good time. This year they finished building the new Media Broadcast Centre, which started broadcasting a bit before Christmas break.
I cleaned my room today I was so bored. Who cleans their room on a Saturday night?! People who are bored, that's who... But either way, there was a lot of dust on the floor, I was kind of grossed out by it when I had just done it a few weeks ago, but then again, I am lazy like that.
I started working on a song today, and I was thinking about trying to get an album finished before I leave, but I don't think I'm going to have the time for that. We will see how it works out, but I'm not counting on getting it done, unless I use a few unfinished songs that I had from my last album that are half written, that might be an idea. Who knows, we will have to wait and see, but if it does happen I will have to keep you all posted.

She had some light equipment so she decided to take a few shots in the lounge. I grabbed my guitar and she started snapping pictures of me. Most of them turned out really cool, she took around 80 of them. It was a fun night..
But I think there might be a few of us going out for a walk for something to do. We are bored out of our minds and theres only about 6 of us here this weekend. I'm bored so I might as well join. Later days.

Bored? Why Not Search Random Things On eBay!?
Hmm, well it seems as if we must have been really bored last night. Aside from being a bit sore, we decided to watch a movie. The Never Ending Story, now, I've never seen the movie, but Renee, Craig and Jeremy had all seen it before. You know, it's actually kind of a cheesy movie, but it was funny to watch the old crazy special effects. It was highly amusing.
Aside from that, it wasn't too much of a day, I didn't wake up until 7pm, because I had been up until 7am that morning when we had gotten home. I was quite sore yesturday, but aside from the bumps and bruises, I'm fine. We kind of had a laugh about it yesturday, and it's still kind of a joke today. It could have been much much worse.
Myself, Renee and Craig took off to Burger King because downstairs had already closed for the night (yeah we got up too late lol), and quite frankly, I really didn't feel like residence food at all. It's starting to get really tiring to go downstairs and eat that same old crap over and over again. I go downstairs and am no longer hungry because of the fact that I don't want to eat anything, there's nothing good to eat. Oh well, we are down to 33 days here. Not to far away, and I really want to try to get as much as I can done within those 33 days. They have already been pretty fun so far.
After the movie last night, Craig and I decided to do some ebay searching for something to do. Talk about bordem eh? Hahahah, we started looking up "Wheatie Boxes" and you wouldn't believe how many there were online for sale. Then we decided to look up Cereal toys, and there were some really cool toys from back in the 50's and 60's for sale. It was highly amusing to look at them. Then we got the big idea to look up McDonalds Toys. And BOY did we hit the jackpot.

Nothing Like Getting Jumped In Toronto
I know what you might be thinking, Toronto is a bad place. And quite frankly, yes I will agree. It all depends where you are and at what time. It just so happened that me and Craig last night, were in the wrong place at the wrong time. We were on our way back to the College and got jumped. We were at Seven Eleven.
There were a group of 10 people and they had just wanted to be pests. I got punched a few times, slammed into the ground, and kicked in the side. Craig got the worst of it. He was thrown on the ground and kicked repeatedly. I am quite sore but I can just imagine how sore he is.
All in all, it wasn't a fun night, we had to walk to a gas station and call a cab, and then take a ride home. The whole time I was worried about Michelle and Renee, because they had gotten ahead of us because we were talking to some random guy on the street. But they had gotten back safely. I just can't help but wonder, if we hadn't have stopped, we would have been home safe and sound and none of this would have happened.
It could have been worse, we survived, and nothing was stolen, but it just goes to show you that there are a few bad places that you don't want to be late at night or something like that could happen. Oh well, you live life how it comes to you. All I need is rest, and I'll be back to normal in a few days, I'm just glad I didn't break any bones.
I am very thankful that Renee was around when we got back, because I broke down, I was upset, in shock, and still full of adrenaline. She was there to comfort and it helped a lot, and Jeremy was there to talk too. It's good to know that I have such caring friends.

Swallowed In The Sea
Swallowed in the Sea is a great tune. And If you haven't listened to it, I definitely suggest it. A lot of people don't like the X&Y album, but you know what, it's not as bad as everyone says. Just make sure you get to track 11 and you will be all set.
Now, you may be asking why I am up at six in the morning, it's a very valid question. And then you may ask why I'm listening to Swallowed in the Sea? That's another great question! I'm up because I just finished having a conversation with Sarah not to long ago(yeah I know, early in the morning chats are great). Then I decided to listen to a song afterwords, and then I just felt like writing in my blog. Such a great tune if you want to make yourself feel better after being down, but when I write things down, I always feel better. Hence why I am posting here.
The night was actually pretty fun, Craig, Renee, Jeremy, Sarah and myself watched Stranger Then Fiction. It's an excellent movie, I actually really enjoyed it myself. We kind of bumped the movie night to Wednesday this week (don't ask me why, we were all busy on Tuesday), but nonetheless I believe we'll be back to the normal schedule next week.
I had an interesting conversation with Sarah, and I know she is probably going to read this. This is absolutely fine, it's one of the main reasons I post on my blog, to get my thoughts out, and for people to read whats going on in my life. I just want to let you know, do not worry about anything, you are one of the greatest friends I could ever ask for. And I say that truthfully and meaningfully. You have been great, and you are on the top of my list for friends. Thank You

So The Countdown Begins.... And It's Only 36 Days?!?!??!!!?!
I'm thinking about going home again, why do I keep thinking this!? It's frustrating, and it only makes me feel like crap! Oh well, I suppose many other people are thinking the same thing. There are things I'm looking forward too, and other things I'm not so much looking forward too.
I still haven't heard back from Bigdog yet. It doesn't sound to good if you ask me! But maybe I am just jumping the gun, they are busy and don't have much time to be checking emails. I am still waiting to hear back from Chris though, he said he was going to tell me what he thought of my work I've sent him, but I haven't heard anything yet. Oh well I'll just wait it off, and stop in when I get home and see how things are going.
I had a conversation with Sarah tonight, about how many days are left before I leave. It's almost a month now, I have to be out of here on the 28th, so that means that there are 36 days left here in Toronto. WOW, ONLY 36!?!?!! That doesn't seem like a lot, and infact it isn't a lot. I don't like looking at that number, althought I suppose I should start the countdown... THAT'S DEPRESSING!
I guess it's really only a four month break, and them I'm right back to where I use to be, second year radio, which is one thing I'm really looking forward too. Anyways, I have a meeting to go to right now, so I should get going, or I'll get yelled at and "evicted" by Phil. Until later days!

I Just Want To Cry...
I don't know whats wrong with me today. I just woke up from a nap and now I'm not in the best of moods. I feel like I want to cry, but I don't have a reason too. I guess I'm just going to write about how I'm feeling right now. Perhaps if I get this down, then I will feel a bit better, who knows. It seems to be working so far.
It's almost as if I'm excited, and sad at the same time. Closely approaching is the summer, which I am excited for. I always look forward to having beautiful weather. I'm looking forward to going back home, in a way, and in the other, I'm not. I have a few friends here that I am closer to then any of my friends at home, and how weird is that? The worst part is they won't be here next year. It bothers me an extreme amount.
There's a lot of people who I care for here, and it's depressing to think that they won't be around next year. The thing that bothered me the most, is those who I cared for at home, when I moved to Toronto, they didn't keep in touch. Do you understand how frustrating that is?! Maybe you do, maybe you've moved like me, maybe you truly understand what's going on in my head right now.
I guess I just have to rant, just like any other day. Some things don't add up for me. I've never been extremely good with making friends, it's been tough, but when I moved here I had no one, and now I have 3-4 REALLY close friends, and of those friends, they are all graduating or not coming back next year. It's kind of tearing me from one side to another right now, and that's what seems to be on my mind again and again.
I like to think I'm a friendly enough person, but sometimes I do things, or say things that aren't too bright. And it bothers me that there are people out there that don't think to highly of me. Actually, it kills me, and I feel bad. It almost bothers me more if I do something to hurt a person, then it does to the person who I've done it too. I guess maybe I'm too hard on myself, or maybe I care too much. I've always been concerned about people around me, but maybe I'm not concerned enough.
Today started like any other day, wake up, go to class, come back from class, and do assignments. Today just felt different... I don't know why... It should blow over tomorrow, who knows, I seem to be too emotional of a person. And I think that's why, and then I start thinking about other things, it gets me into an even more of a depression. Then the tears come, like they are right now, and I guess I better go lay down and think... I hate being an emotional person. It sucks...

What's Up With This Weather?!
I haven't been to a movie in awhile, but last night we went to the Premonition. And when I say "we", I mean Sarah, Cory, Kristen and Lisa and myself. Now I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen the movie, but the ending was a little lame. It just wasn't really that good of an ending at all. It made sense, and it wrapped up, but the whole movie leads towards you thinking something good is going to come out of all this craziness, but it doesn't.
Yorkdale Mall is a VERY nice mall, and the theatre is even more impressive. It beats Rainbow Cinemas any day! It kind of sucks that we pretty much had to break our necks to watch the movie, and it also doesn't help that I ate too much popcorn and felt sick through the last half of the movie. And also the blinding brightness of the screen from being close... I think you get the point, right? We were sitting in one of the front rows because it was so packed.
The weather certainly has taken a turn for the worse. It was chilly on the drive to the movie, and even worse on the drive home. And just when I thought we were getting rid of the snow, another two or so centimeters come down! What the heck is going on with the weather these days! Two days ago it was +10, and now yesturday it was -10! I am waiting for this darn spring weather to kick in and it just keeps flipping back and forth! Oh well, it will be warm enough before we know it. And also be done school before we know it... That's kind of depressing.

And The Drunken Adventures Begin
Well a very fun night it was indeed. Last night was the first time I've ever been to a late night CAPS party. It was a lot of fun. I was joined with Cory, Kristen, Shaun, and Lisa. Craig came along as well, overall, it was a really fun night.
We came back from CAPS at 2ish in the morning, feeling pretty good, and I kind of feel bad for dragging Sarah up to TBuilding. We were a little bit over the top. We were singing songs, and having more drinks. And that lasted until we conked out at five in the morning.
Either way, this isn't too much of a post, just a simple short one to tell you how good of a night it was. Might have to try a few more Thursdays like that before the end of the year.

Beautiful Spring Like Day Today
Wow!!! You sure don't get much nicer then this in the middle of March. It's +15 in Toronto right now! Unbelievable! It is so nice out today, and I always get that warm fuzzy feeling when I feel the warm breeze hit my face from having the window open as I sit here and type this message. It was a good day today, and it's suppose to be nice all weekend.
Aside from feeling like crap this morning when I woke up, the day was good, and full of suprises. I didn't sleep to well last night, it was blistering hot in the rooms, and I woke up almost every hour of the night. I'm feeling much better this evening because of the fact that I just woke up from a two hour nap not to long ago.
I had some suprising comments hit me today from a few of my teachers. First off, I really didn't think my 90 second feature was that good, but apparently Nijbour did. He asked me why I didn't have a job in radio yet?! I told him I had been applying around, and he said to make sure to apply in Halifax as well if I don't get work in Truro. Kind of a boost to my ego I suppose, I am quite pleased to hear that he liked it so much. I really hope I can get work on Big Dog though, it's a great station, plays great music, and I would be proud to be part of the "Dog" team. Plus it's local, and a lot more convient for me!
Jerry approached me today just before I stumbled into class late, I was talking to Cory in the hall before he was about to do an air shift on the 96.9 and Jerry walked by. As I was about to head towards my afternoon class Jerry started talking to Sonia and John (who I was with at the time) and then he brought up the station IDs that I had done a week earlier. He said that they sounded fantastic! I was thrilled to hear that he liked them so much, and they are going to be getting air time on 96.9, so that was pretty cool to hear as well! The IDs are up on my portfolio if you are interested in a listen.
Only one and a half more months to go before I am back in Truro, I'm kind of upset about it, because I'll be leaving all my new friends. The worst part for me is, the fact that I made friends with a lot of graduating students... Renee, Craig, Cory, Kristen, Brian... just to name a few, they are my closest friends here right now, and they won't be back next year! How much does that suck?! I have also grown very fond of Sarah, but she is back next year, and she is a great girl, so I hope things go well over the summer and we will be back in three months time.

As I was about to head towards my afternoon class Jerry started talking to Sonia and John (who I was with at the time) and then he brought up the station IDs that I had done a week earlier. He said that they sounded fantastic! I was thrilled to hear that he liked them so much, and they are going to be getting air time on 96.9, so that was pretty cool to hear as well! The IDs are up on my portfolio if you are interested in a listen.
Only one and a half more months to go before I am back in Truro, I'm kind of upset about it, because I'll be leaving all my new friends. The worst part for me is, the fact that I made friends with a lot of graduating students... Renee, Craig, Cory, Kristen, Brian... just to name a few, they are my closest friends here right now, and they won't be back next year! How much does that suck?! I have also grown very fond of Sarah, but she is back next year, and she is a great girl, so I hope things go well over the summer and we will be back in three months time.
Anyways, thats about it for my rant today!

Another Fun Night To Put In The Books
So another fun night on a Friday to put in the books. Healey, Laker, and Diehl came over last night. We had a few drinks and ordered a pizza later that night, but the best part of the night was working on 104.5 Laker Radio's webpage. It was fun, and we are in the process of getting it up and running. Cory purchased www.lakerradio.com and I designed the site.
The station id voicing went well yesturday, got that stuff done and then we were off to creating a few ids. Only a few are produced so far, but that's fine, because theres still much work to do. We got a few of them on the air now running fine, and it's sounding good. (I'm not just saying that because it's my voice hahahaha)
Today was a lot of fun too though, last night we got talking about making some tshirts for the station. I designed a logo for the webpage of course, and Cory liked the look of it. So we talked, and came up with the idea that the logo would look amazing on a tshirt. Well what did we do today? Yeah, we went over to Woodbine and had a tshirt made. It turned out really well, believe it or not, and I was quite proud to say that I had designed the logo myself. It turned out good, and if I can get a snapshot of it for you guys, I'll post it up here for you to see. I'm almost tempted to go and get one made for myself, I think I may hold off for now, and get one in a few weeks time, although I still love the look of it.
Sarah comes back to residence tomorrow! I'm excited to see her return, hopefully she is feeling better. Turns out she picked up the Norwalk virus. I've had that, caught it Christmas Eve and was in the theatre when it happened, puked all over the hallway because I didn't make it to the washroom intime. I'm worried that I might catch it again though, or that I've already caught it, because today I'm not feeling 100%. Maybe it's because I'm paranoid, who knows? If I get it again, I get it again, that's just the way it goes!

Another Jam Packed Week Is Over!
Yes, I am a few days late from my entry, but I have an excuse. This was a jammed pack week, and the next few are going to be even worse. Either way I will keep posting on how my progress is going this year. And by the way, if you are frustrated by poor grammer and improper spelling, I am just going to say, it's a blog, and I'm not perfect! I don't even spell check the thing.
Aside from that, I've updated my portfolio if you are interested in hearing my station ids. I am quite proud of how they turned out. I really like the cheesey Jeopardy parody I did. Even though it's one of the most dumbest station ids ever, it gave me a laugh when I listened to it back, so I submitted it to class and got a few laughs from it as well.
Sarah had to go home this weekend! I was looking forward to partying with her, but unfortunately she has to attend a funeral. Which is never a good thing, but the fact that she didn't want to go doesn't help either. Oh well, I guess that's the way things go, and you really can't say no to that when your mom tells you that she is leaving that very moment to pick you up. There is always next weekend I suppose :)
Not much else has been going on this week, aside from assignment after assignment, and the fact that I think I did terrible on my sales exam doesn't really help either. But I did find out marks for several of my classes, and so far I have an average of 84, which is honours! Lets hope I can keep this up, because I still have three more classes to receive marks from. I was really trying hard for honours this semester, and I think I may just have pulled it off for midterms.
Nothing to exciting planned for this weekend, just going to be the same as always. Have a few drinks and party hard. Career Pathway For Next Year!
So I ended up going in to see Neil today, I had an interview to discuss which pathway that I am going to be focusing on next year. We had the discussion about going into the Announcing pathway. And he was quite pleased that I am planning on choosing to go this route. We had quite an interesting conversation.
The first thing that he mention was how passionate to radio I have been over the past six months. He has noticed a vast improvement, and he says I had a great vocal tone and very creative with my on air work. He did however mention that there is one downfault that might get in the way in my future broadcasting career. Due to having a little bit of an overbite he can hear a bit of a diction problem when it comes to pronouncing words with "s" correctly. He said it's not a huge deal, but it might get me into a bit of a problem. I am very glad that he told me about this, because now I have the chance to try and correct this problem. I really appreciate someone telling me where I am going wrong, and he told me right up front that this might run into the problem in the future.
Other then that, he was quite pleased with my performances, and my ad libs. Solid, and creative, which is good thing for me. I am hoping I have what it takes to make it far in the announcing career, it's what I love doing. It was a good chat though.
I mentioned that I am trying to get work with Big Dog 100.9 and he was thrilled to hear that I am taking the extra step to try and get some radio experience. I got a business card from him before I left his office and he told me to use him as a reference if I needed it. Apparently Astral Media got purchased by Standard Radio, which is the biggest broadcasting firm in Canada. So I can see some big changes coming up with Astral Media. He told me if they offered me full time to take it and not to come back next year, which if I had a job in radio and am getting the experience, I can still get my degree in Radio. Apparently the program states that if you are in the field working on your second year of studies then it's even better then finishing your training here, so they give you the degree in broadcasting anyways. I'm not expecting to be offered full time work if I get the job for the summer, but it sure would be nice to think that it might happen.
I just finished producing a bunch of 96.9 Radio Humber spots for Nijbour, they turned out really cool. I may post them up here in a bit for everyone to listen to on my portfolio, so be sure to check them out.
I think the plan for tonight is to watch a movie with Craig, he wants to watch Willow, I'm up for that. I've been wanting to see this movie for quite awhile now. Anyways, just wanted to keep you up to date for the day. It's been a good one so far, hope tonight is even better :)

Online Exam Fun!
Another great night to put into the books. It was a fun one, we had a few drinks and I cracked open the new bottle of rum I had bought on Friday. There weren't as many people here as Friday night, I guess everyone was partied out for Saturday. That was fine though!
I have an exam to write today. An online exam for Sociology, kind of sucks, I'm just sitting here waiting for Renee to show up so we can write it together. We are both taking the same online course so we always like to brainstorm together. It's not going to bad though, I was expecting something a bit different for when I signed up for an online course though, but it's alright so far, I'm getting a good mark in the course so that's all that matters
Speaking of exams, my exam last week got canceled for Sales. I was quite pleased with that because I didn't fully feel I was ready for it, and now I have another full week to study which will be nice. We had a severe snow storm here on Thursday so they had canceled classes. It was quite nice to have no classes for once, it brings back the days of high school. When classes were always canceled and you jumped with joy! Well, sadly, that doesn't happen too often with College. We had a lot of drivers from around the GTA and even further, so they have to judge accordingly.
Myself and Craig are talking about going to see Leh-lo tonight, which is the drummer for Billy's band, he has a solo performance tonight at The Supermarket. If nothing else comes up then we are hoping to get down that way, perhaps Renee would like to join, and I might ask Sarah if she isn't to busy (I don't know how much of a music nut she is so she might not want to come).
Anyways just wanted to give you an update, and I want to keep my promise :) That I'm going to be posting on my blog more, as you can tell already I'm one up on that project hahah ;)

Template Complete
Well I think it's done. I've completed the template, and I love the color scheme. It didn't quite take as long as I thought it would but it works! It's simplistic.
I like red, grey, and black together. They seem almost dark, or night timey. That's why I have the title banner a picture of a city scape, which is actually a picture right outside my window that I just took five minutes ago.
I like it, I'm pleased with the turn out, and I think it will stay this way for awhile. A job well done for the night. Now the partying can start soon and we can have a good time!

I Just Have To Rant......... (Be Warned, Vulgar Language..)
I'm sorry, but I AM PISSED. I come back from Humanities class tonight and it turns out someone has defaced my door ONCE AGAIN! I have one thing to say to whoever is doing it... FUCK YOU! FUCK OFF!
Last night someone put cream all over my door, for no apparent reason. I had to clean my door, it's NOT fun! SO FUCK OFF! I'm pissed, I'm really mad, because today when I come back from class there is ketchup ALL OVER MY DOOR. WHAT THE FUCK!? I've used fuck in this note quite a bit, but for most of the people that know me really well, I'm not a person to swear very often, it happens, but when I'm mad... I DO!
I'm an easy going guy. Not a lot of things bother me, but trust me, if you deface something of mine you are not going to be one happy person if I find out for sure if it was you. Last week, someone defaced the wall outside my room. I had a picture up that I had to take down because SOMEONE DECIDED TO MARK ALL OVER IT. They put a Hitler mustache and buck teeth on a picture on my wall. WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU DEFACE A PICTURE ON MY WALL OUTSIDE MY DOOR?! I'll say it again. FUCK OFF AND FUCK YOU. I Only Have One LEG!
I started composing again today. I think my next album may be all instrumental. I really haven't decided yet. Instrumental pieces take so much longer to write then the others, but I LOVE writing them. I think it's because of the fact that I can't sing very well. I'm getting better, slowly increasing my skills in vocals but I will never reach the range that some people can accomplish. I'll just stick to my musical compositions I guess.
What do I think of the piece? Well... you may ask this, or you may be saying "What is this crazy buffoon going on about?!", either way, I'll tell you... I have mixed feelings on ALL of my work. I will tell you I am moderately pleased on how this one turned out. I'll give you a little background scoop on what made me pick up the guitar today. You see, I was thinking of someone. Yeah, perhaps I'm drowning in sorrow, or maybe not. (hmmm good line for a song! :P)
The over all mood of the song is happy, because this person makes me happy. I don't know if I'll be able to truly express opinions towards this person, but this song sums it up, it's how I feel.. It's what I feel inside when I see this person. Happiness... overwhelmed with joy... and the worst part is, if things work out, I'll just be going back to Nova Scotia in two months and it's sure to fall apart.. I can never win!
Anyways, it's not finished, still a whole second instrumental verse to record, but it's coming along. I wanted to share it, because, yes, I'm bored! BLARG! Please constructively criticize this for me.
