I've been troubled the past few days with something that seems to be bothering me more then usual. It's nothing that should be bothering me, but I seem to be having the problem of thinking that I'm never going to find the right person to be with in my life. Then I begin to think that I'm still to young to even worry about that, I mean I'm only 19, getting close to 20. There's a few people that I'm growing fond of this year, but I know that if anything happens (which I don't think it ever will) that it's just going to have to end by the end of the year. I don't know where I am going to be at the end of the year, and with radio, you could be anywhere.
I got my Windows Vista package in the mail the other day, and have the thing all booted up and installed. I ended up doing a fresh install because I haven't formatted this machine in about a year in a half, it needed a clean install. I have to say, I was first skeptical with the new system, but I am growing to love it. There are a few really cool new features to the operating system. And I've also convinced a few other people that maybe they want to pick it up too!
Another package arrived in the mail on Thursday along with the Vista package. It was a copy of my album. The first actually "good looking" copy of my album. A professionally printed and packaged album arrived at my door (three of them actually) and I must say, they look AWESOME! I'm working on getting something done for my next album, and will definitely be going through CafePress again to get them done. They turned out well and they look like a professionally designed and recorded album now. It's great!
Things have been busy around here, with on air shifts, projects, and the music director position I've been holding. It's a lot of work but this year is already going well, it's fun, although last night I was listening back to some of my on air performances and I realized that I need to work on a few things. Some of my breaks seem to long, I need to shorten them up and tighten up my production. That will come in time, I'm not extremely worried about it right now, but the fact that I'm thinking this already I guess is a good sign. When I can critique my own work and tell whats wrong with it. Maybe I'm just going insane lol.
Not to much has happened this weekend, didn't party on Friday because I was covering a shift on Saturday, which was actually pretty boring. Traffic and Entertainment isn't exactly exciting, but it's radio so you have to do it. Not that I mind doing traffic/entertainment, I just hate that it's so repetitive. At least when you're hosting you get to be creative and talk about everything, other then the limited range of entertainment, which is strictly, as the title suggests, entertainment news.
I don't know why I keep getting scheduled for traffic/entertainment though. I'd love to be getting more hosting times, but it seems as if every week I have two traffic/entertainment, and one hosting. And it's been that way for the past three weeks (I think). I want more hosting time! I guess it'll come, or so I'm hoping. Just have to wait it out and see, and if within another two weeks I'm still having the same issue of not having much hosting time each week, I'll get a hold of Jerry.
Renee didn't show up like she said she would, she apparently got sick or something? I don't know the full story, just going on what Anne had mentioned. Perhaps she'll show up after thanksgiving weekend. But other then that, Saturday was a fun night. We had a few drinks in my room, my RA got a little drunk, and we all had a good time. It was an alright weekend I guess.
Speaking of Thanksgiving, I have no idea what I'm going to be doing on thanksgiving weekend. I guess I might just end up staying here, which will probably be pretty boring, considering there will only be about 10 people living on residence that weekend (just like spring break last year). Oh well, I guess I can catch up on some sleep and work on assignments.

Radio Humber Madness
What a fun night it was last night. The past two nights (Thursday and Friday) I've been doing six hour shifts! Talk about madness, but it sure is helping for my sound already. At least I think so.
I'm loving working on Radio Humber so far, but a little bit frustrated that a few people aren't already showing up for shifts?! Like what the heck, this is our career in stake here. Oh well I guess those are the people that don't seem to have the bug for radio. I'll just keep doing my thing.
So last night I come home from my six hour shift ending at 9pm, and to my surprise Renee showed up for then night. It was great to see her again! I thought she had fallen off the face of the earth! And she also said that she would be back next weekend which is really cool. It will be good to party with her again, perhaps she will have a few drinks next weekend. Then again I have a shift at 10am on Saturday next week when I'm covering. Oh well, no partying on Friday, but Saturday will be full blown partying I guess.
I still have yet to go downtown Toronto this year, I haven't left campus. Then again I've been extremely busy with the station, and also as Music Director. Yeah did I tell you I got the music director position for 96.9? It's pretty cool so far but I haven't done much, we're still getting everything together and running. But it should be fun once things start rolling on.
I think we'll be drinking again tonight, not much else is going on. There were a bunch of people in my room last night, and Tom Mangos came over to chill with us. His a first year radio student, and it's good to get to know a few of them this year. As Cory did with me last year, I want to do the same for many of the first years this year.
Speaking of that bugger, he called me last night.. It was damn good to hear his voice too. I miss him, and wish he were still around, but unfortunately he is rockin' the airwaves in Alberta. Perhaps some day we will meet up, who knows. You never know we may cross paths again some day, but what I do know is we are definitely going to be keeping in touch, and if we don't I am going to have to hunt him down. Either way it was great to chat, we were on the phone for a few hours, and almost everyone in the room spoke with him, it was good times!
I've got a few assignments I have to work on tomorrow, a bunch due for radio and an essay due on Tuesday for my online course. It should be an interesting day to try and get them all done tomorrow. I started a few today just to get them out of the way so I wouldn't be so jammed on Sunday, which was probably a good idea. Other then that I've been keeping busy with both classes, work, and air shifts. It's a blast, and already starting to fly by! I can't believe it's already been three freaking weeks!
Anywho, I'm off for tonight. Later Days

WOW! What A CRAZY Week
Week one of broadcasting is over! Wow what a week it was too. It was an interesting week just on residence alone. The first shift on Monday was a bit rough around the edges but it was a heck of a lot of fun.
I ended up covering shifts on Monday and Thursday! It was crazy! I had five shifts this week, and next week I'm scheduled for four. I'm not too worried about taking extra shifts though because it's all great experience. I still need as much practice I can get!
There were a few mistakes on air, but I feel the first week went by a lot better then I expected. They basically threw us in the broadcasting room and said have fun. I was still a little bit sketchy on the operating board, it was a bit confusing to use but I have the hang of it now.
My floor was extremely frustrating this week, like I said it's very immature.. But there has been talks that its going to be converted into a quiet floor if they don't settle down.. Which I really wouldn't mind too much, but what would suck is on the weekends we would have to be quiet at 11! There's no one ever here on the weekends so I don't really want that to happen, we can't have parties then!
Another interesting event happened on Thursday. It was actually VERY loud, and I was getting frustrated as I normally do when these guys get too drunk. See the problem is it's alright during the day because no one is drinking, but everyone wants to get hammered for some reason and then scream for hours in the hallways or in the lounge. It's not exactly my type of "fun".
Anyway, one of the screaming matches turned into a fight. Three guys got in a fight on the floor. It was kind of amusing, and then security arrived on the floor and were very strict about people talking. I mean I don't mind when people are in the halls talking quietly, but they were yelling at me for typing on my computer with my door open! Talk about lame! I'm not a big fan of the high school drama though, and that's what it's been the past few weeks. Hopefully it will get better within the next few, but I am highly doubting it right now. We'll have to wait and see.
A few days before that, a guy that use to live on our floor (switched rooms with Craig, that's how he moved in on my floor), decided he was okay to drive when he was hammered. He ended up driving into a light poll in the parking lot. Regardless of that, the cops got called and rumors have it he has a 7000 dollar fine. There goes your education money you saved, huh??... Some people aren't too bright these days, but then again all of the people on this floor are very young and it's the first time they've been out on their own.
Good thing was he wasn't hurt, but that still wasn't the smartest thing to do. And then the other thing was Tom was in my room that night, and he was very disrespectful of the fact. I had a few people from the floor in my room at the time, one very upset, and he made a comment on how he was happy he crashed. This just upset the girl even more and I got mad at him. He couldn't understand why, but you just don't say those things in front of people who are upset because their friend just got in a car crash!.. While I understand his point, he said he had a friend who was killed from a drunk driver, you still don't voice that when it just happened.
It's been a crazy week, hopefully nothing like that happens again. I also got some good news, aside from all the weird and bad things that have been happening. I got the music director position I applied for. So now I'll be getting a few bucks in my pocket while I'm here at Humber. I find out all the details on Monday. Should be fun though, I get to be involved with the station even more then I was expecting, and get paid for it!

Back In The Wonderful World Of Toronto!
Well I'm back again, and I suppose I should give you a bit of an update of what has been going on all summer. It's been awhile since my last post, in fact my last post was the night before I left for Truro again. Nevertheless I figured it was that time again. I moved into my new room on R320, and am still in reservation for a T Building with Craig. We actually have a pretty decent floor, best part is Craig is on the same floor as me! Pretty sweet deal if you ask me, but they are a little bit immature for my liking. Oh well, you can't win every time I guess. I just have to stop comparing it to last year, we had such a tight floor last year.
I've been working like a mad man all summer. No time for fun, although I did take a few trips over the course of the four months I was back. Few to Halifax, and over to PEI when Craig and Renee came down to visit. Which was an absolute blast. I hope they had fun, because I enjoyed seeing them. Speaking of Renee however, she didn't make it up this weekend. Not sure why, but she said she would be up and then never showed up. How weird...
I was working at Convergys and taking calls at the call centre for Sprint. An all American cell phone company and listening to bitching Americans all day.. Well actually not all of them are that bad, I had a few very polite customers, however there were many death threats which was highly amusing. In fact I got a death threat that he was going to come and find me and shoot me with an AK47. How is that for having a fun job? Actually it wasn't all that bad, it's one job that I actually did not dread going to every day, although I would never want to make it a full time career. I started off as an Account Services Retention Agent and then a month before I left got promoted to Supervisor, which I had a blast doing. I met some really cool people this summer because of it though, but I had the worst shift ever and never got to see much of family. It was all good in the end though because I made a heck of a lot of money working there. The bonuses were great!
I've been talking to Nathan and also mentioned it to Craig, but I want to take a trip to somewheres nice and warm this Spring Break. Because I was completely bored out of my mind last year, so I'm taking my bonus money made from work and saving it for a trip. Something cheap and warm would be very convenient. They are both up for it, but I'm not sure if it is going to fall through or not. I hope it does because it would be an absolute blast!
I start on air this year, and my first shift is Monday. I'm REALLY looking forward too it.. I chose the announcing pathway this year, and am really excited to start my career up. I imagine the first show is going to be rough around the edges but there's not really a lot I can do about that, we are all a little nervous the first time we go on air on a radio station. But once I get the hang of things I'm sure I can do an alright job. You can listen online at http://radio.humber.ca.

I thought I would share some exciting news, my first debut and on air performance will be on Radio Humber this up coming week! I am extremely excited for this, and absolutely can not wait to start hitting the air waves next week.
